In the past 6 years, we have had 7 former Green Island School pupils go on to be the Head Boy, Head Girl or Deputy Head at their respective Secondary Schools. Of those pupils, 5 of the 7 had their whole 8 years of primary education at Green Island School.
Leadership
In a large intermediate or college the opportunity for all students to play a leadership role is not possible. Part of the full primary school philosophy is to grow caring, nurturing leaders in our school. All Year 7 and 8 students can have a role in leading aspects of the school.
Responsibility
As leaders in the school Year 7 and 8 students are supported to accept a growing number of responsibilities. Students take responsibility for areas of the running of the school environment that they know, have helped to build and have a sense of belonging to.
Building future leaders through:
- Kapa Haka
- School Council
- School Monitors
- Road Patrol
- Big Brother and Sisters
- Grip Leadership programme.
